Employee Spotlight: Ben Gillett

Tell us a little about yourself and what is your role at Acertara?
I’m a Longmont native and a recent graduate from Colorado State University – Go Rams! At Acertara, I am a Software Engineer, so I spend most of my time writing code for both internal and external projects. I enjoy low-level hardware programming as well as higher-level projects like machine learning and full-stack development.
What do you like most about Acertara?
My colleagues! They are all very friendly and supportive and they make working at Acertara enjoyable. I also feel very good about the work we do (improving healthcare quality and accessibility), which is not a luxury every engineer enjoys.
What kinds of hobbies and interests do you have outside of work?
I love all things outdoors, especially hiking and mountain biking. I also like working on side projects to learn new technologies and build cool things. A recent project I worked on was an app that lets you take photos of trash items (like a snack wrapper) and it will tell you if that item is recyclable in your municipality.
What is one thing you could not live without?
I would really miss the mountains if I didn’t live nearby…
What is your favorite movie/book?
Let’s go with favorite movie: I am a big fan of Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar.
