John Timms

John Timms brings 25 years of medical device manufacturing and R&D experience to the Acertara team.  For the last 18 years John has focused on ultrasound device and test equipment development for which he has been awarded numerous ultrasound related US patents.  John is currently serving as Vice President of Engineering at Acertara.  In this role, he is responsible for leading the effort for product and electrical designs in Acertara’s family of ultrasound instruments.  John manages an engineering team that is involved in electrical, software, and mechanical design, manufacturing and calibration engineering, and product lifecycle management.  Prior to his work at Acertara, John worked on the development of MRI systems, having designed embedded system controllers and switched mode power supplies (50W to 6000W average power) for solid state RF amplifiers, Shim power supplies and B0 coil drivers.  John was also the program manager on a surgical heart laser generator, TMLR, project.

John holds a bachelor’s degree with distinction in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland.
