Employee Spotlight: Tyler

Tell us a little about yourself and what is your role at Acertara?

I am a driven young professional who’s lived in three states over the past two years, always seeking new experiences and opportunities for growth. While I work full time in a demanding role, I make time to coach high school athletics — combining my love for running, mentorship, and adventure. Coaching is a way for me to stay connected to the sport I love and to give back to the community, all while balancing a fast-paced lifestyle fueled by curiosity and a strong work ethic.

In my role at Acertara, I play a critical part in the probe repair process, as I oversee every probe that comes in and goes out on the customer-facing side of operations. Maintaining high quality standards is essential in this position as each probe must meet strict requirements before being returned to the customer.

What do you like most about Acertara?

What I appreciate most about Acertara is its close-knit, small-business atmosphere. There’s a genuine sense of community, with team members greeting each other with a “good morning” and saying goodbye at the end of the day — simple gestures that create a welcoming and respectful workplace culture.

What do you find most challenging at Acertara?

What I find most challenging at Acertara is spending the entire day indoors in a lab setting. I naturally thrive in environments that are active, hands-on, and even a little unpredictable — I enjoy being outside, taking on physical challenges, and pushing myself beyond my comfort zone. That contrast makes the structured lab work a unique and valuable challenge for me.

Where would you like to travel to?

I’ve always had a sense of adventure, which is probably why Japan is at the top of my travel bucket list. I’m drawn to its car scene, history, and incredible outdoor scenery.

What is your favorite movie and/or book?

Cars is my favorite movie, I’m unsure why. I think it’s partly nostalgic for me.

Top three life highlights?

Looking back, some of my top life highlights reflect that same spirit. One of the most memorable was running the 4x800M relay at the state track meet with my younger brother and another set of brothers. An experience built on teamwork, family, and pushing limits together.

Another was teaching my younger sister how to drive in my truck when she got her permit, a milestone that was both nerve-wracking and rewarding.

Perhaps the biggest leap of all: moving to Virginia completely on my own, right out of high school, with no plan and no connections. It was a bold step into the unknown, and it taught me more than I could’ve imagined.
